Driving into work this morning, I was thinking back to a conversation I had at the local farm repair shop. I was talking with a retired farmer and asked him his secret to success. He laughed and simply said, "There are two things you got to have. Good people to help you and good timing."

That got me to thinking about how true that is. I was blessed to have good folks help me get started in every aspect of my career and farming. And I was lucky enough to start at the right times. But what about when timing is bad? That's where the good people come in and the importance of surrounding yourself with people you can count on and trust when times aren't so good.
